In her new role Matsuoka has been tasked with giving oversight to Apple's various health related "Kit" initiatives such as HealthKit, ResearchKit and CareKit. Apple confirmed the hiring to MarketWatch, but did not provide details about her role. However, her multifaceted talents mean she could be working on something completely new for Apple , as well. Shares of Amazon jump on 1Q earnings beat

Amazon Web Services (AWS) raked in $2.6bn in revenue, up 64 per cent versus 2015's $1.6bn, and recorded an operating income of $604m versus $195m from the cloud platform. The online retailer posted revenue of $29.13 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Operating income for the business unit came in at $604 million - more than half of the operating income for all of Amazon this quarter - as a result of $1.85 billion in operating expenses. (more...)

The concept that is in its early stages could be used by retailers and brands to launch products across more than 1.6 Billion Facebook friends. Facebook could not immediately be reached for comment. If there's one thing that Facebook should worry about, it should be its success rate with standalone apps. The regular Facebook app opens on the News Feed, though, prompting you to view others' photos and videos rather than share your own. (more...)
