The Zika virus is spreading rapidly in Latin America, and Asian governments have issued advisories in a bid to contain the mosquito-borne disease, which could be linked to birth defects and can cause temporary paralysis. Epidemiologist Jussi Sane at the National Institute for Health and Welfare says it was a minor infection and the man was well and had been allowed home soon after being treated by doctors in June 2015. Health agencies investigating the Zika virus are finding increasing evidence of a link between the two. The Korea Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has also been sending text messages to people travelling in regions where Zika has spread to inform them of the disease and preventive measures.
