Donald Trump blames healthcare bill failure on Republican lawmakers

Poe's resignation came hours after Trump publicly blamed the Freedom Caucus and other Republican groups in the House for the failure of the GOP bill that he fully backed.

Several members of the House Freedom Caucus said they are still open to considering health care - but cautioned that the bill would have to change to get their support.

Rep. Ted Poe announced Sunday he has resigned from the conservative House Freedom Caucus over its opposition to the Republican health care plan, becoming the group's first public casualty in the fall-out over its role in defeating the bill.

The leader of the House Freedom Caucus which helped bring down the Ryan health care legislation reiterated his desire to continue working on health care even as other items like tax reform become the priority. And - in a sharp contrast from Friday, when he pointed the finger at Democrats - President Donald Trump is turning his fire at his own party. The group counted 36 members in 2015, according to Pew Research Center. Moderates say it takes coverage away from too many people.

"When we're in Florida, I will lay out the path forward on healthcare and all the rest of the agenda", Ryan reportedly said on a call with donors, referring to a donor retreat scheduled for later this week.

In reality, the members of the Freedom Caucus were not the only Republicans who opposed to the new health care bill.

Thanks to strong grass-roots activism, the seven-year effort by congressional Republicans to dismantle the Affordable Care Act is over (for now). In the report that followed, correspondent Peter Alexander was eager to stir the pot: "More fallout after last week's health care collapse for a president feeling a bit drained by the swamp".

Before the Opening Day ceremonies get underway, there will be 30 Air Force recruits being sworn in at 9 a.m.at Fenway Park . If it hadn't already, in that moment it occurred to Benintendi that sports are treated a little bit differently around here.

They also successfully undermined former Speaker John Boehner and essentially forced his resignation from Congress. "Once the American people learned what was in this bill, they overwhelmingly rejected it, and we hope that President Trump and Speaker Ryan learned a lesson here".

Conservative activists were far less forgiving, ascribing blame for what they've derisively labeled "Ryancare" to the Wisconsin Republican.

In fact, since enactment of the ACA the case had been persuasively made throughout the United States that the fundamental goal of providing payment for health services for all Americans through the entitlement represented by the ACA, while preserving choice in the consumer of his or her doctor and other providers at a decreased cost both to the individual and to the government, was a false promise from the get-go.

"Democrats are smiling in D.C. that the Freedom Caucus, with the help of Club For Growth and Heritage, have saved Planned Parenthood & Ocare!" he tweeted early yesterday, two days after he and Republican leaders canceled a House vote on repealing Obamacare that was headed for failure.

Meadows told reporters after the extended closed door meeting, "everybody wants to find a way to get this passed and we're going to work real hard to do that".

And, in a freaky twist, Mr. Trump himself may have inadvertently fanned the anti-Ryan voices when he urged viewers to tune in to Fox News' "Justice With Judge Jeanine" program Saturday.

"I think it was the longest prayer we've ever had", New York Republican Rep. Chris Collins said, referring to the opening prayer that is part of every conference. "That's not presidential", he said, "that's petulance". At the same time, their requested changes alienated more moderate Republicans and rendered the bill unpassable. "We never said it was flawless".
